Avonvale Model Flying Club


 

Formed in 1962, Avonvale Model Flying Club has an enthusiastic membership of about 130 active members. Situated here at Long Marston Airfield near Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, the flying site is on the perimeter track of the former wartime airfield. The club caters for all types of model flying from piston power to jets and helicopters. New members are welcome, and there are experienced modellers who will be pleased to help get your first model airborne safely, and down again in one piece!

The club is affiliated to the British Model Flying Association [BMFA] http://www.bmfa.org which is the body delegated by the Royal Aero Club to be responsible for all aspects of model flying in Great Britain. The BMFA normally has around 780 clubs affiliated to it, with a combined membership from clubs and individual members of over 36,000. B.M.F.A. comprehensive insurance cover is available with membership and special low rates apply for junior members.

The Avonvale Model Flying Club's active band of members also organise the annual Long Marston Model Air Show. Now regarded as the flying season's premier show opener, in just three short years the Avonvale Club committe have built up a truely great show of flying displays which have quite literally taken off! And its not just the flying that attracts model enthusiasts. There's also display's of model boats, cars and trains which makes the day a very attractive and affordable family weekend out. This years show takes place on 11th/12th May.
