March Airfield News....
Supporting Convoy for Heroes.
Born from a desire to help, inspired by the bikers at Wootton Bassett, and with close ties to the military, the question was asked how Land Rover enthusiasts could help our armed forces! CONVOY for HEROES is a non-profit group of Land Rover owners dedicated in there time to assist HELP for HEROES who, in turn provide facilities and support services to benefit British servicemen and women injured in action.
In 2011, CONVOY for HEROES plan was to beat the Guinness World Record originally set at 260 in April 2004, whilst raising valuable funds for HELP for HEROES. Using the Heritage Motor Centre as a camping base and the Jaguar Land Rover proving ground next door, on a baking hot Easter weekend, CONVOY for HEROES broke that record with an outstanding figure of 348 vehicles creating a new annual event, and Long Marston Airfield is once again pleased to be associated with this very worthy cause.
For further information on how you can become involved or simply wish to come along and cheers the guys on, stop by the event web site at www.convoy4heroes.org.uk.

Airfield photo of the month....
Click on the photo below to view further galleries from Long Marston Airfield's events and services. This photo taken at the airfield entrance of the Percival P-57 Sea Prince T1 against a sunset backdrop was taken by drag racing photographer Martin Drake. This particular Sea Prince was formerly with the Royal Navy WM735/G-Raca and also saw service with the A&AEE Boscombe Down Bombing Trials Unit with the 750 Squadron. The airframe came from a private dealer and Staverton Airport before being delivered to the airfield on the 12th May 1989.
